Details About KARNATAKA PRISONS DEPARTMENT

The department is in charge of the home minister and is headed by the Home Department’s Secretaries and General Secretaries (PeiAAs). Superintendents of Additional Police Directorate and Prison of Karnataka are head of the Department of Prisons. Police Deputy Inspectors (Prison), Deputy Inspectors of Prisons (Central Workplace) and Assistant Managers Help Center. The Chief Superintendent / Superintendent of all Central / District and Prisons will look after the prisons involved.

There are total 102 jails in the state of Karnataka, including 8 central prisons, 15 district prisons, 4 district sub-jails, 2 special sub-jail, 1 plaque prison, 1 LAN prison and 70 taluk sub-prisons (30 sub-prisons working under 30 department staff and 40 police personnel) Taluk sub-jail in the administration of the department)
